Police in Bangalore have put forward a recommendation to close the 150 golf club there.
The stated reason for the closure is that the golf clubs location is in a high density traffic area that has a lot of VIP movement.
A secondary reason is because of the damage caused to cars when golf balls are hit beyond the boundary of the golf club.
Last week the High Grounds police who have jurisdiction over the golf club sent a letter to the Bangalore deputy commissioner M A Sadiq requesting the club be closed.
Ranee Viyaya Kuttaiah, veteran club member said about the police recommendation, "It is unfortunate and unfair to close a beautiful and old club.
Golf and golfers should not be punished. The club has a good managing committee and it should be given a chance to prevent such things."
Ms Kuttaiah has put forward a recommendation to raise the height of the netting around the club. It is now up to the deputy commissioner as to what his decision will be.
