Australias Craig Parry has won the Australian Open at the 24th time of asking after shooting an 11-under-par 277. The 41-year old can now add the trophy to his cabinet of 22 worldwide titles, 12 of which have been in his homeland. The satisfaction of winning the tournament is accompanied by a winners check of £140,000.
In winning the tournament, Parry secured his third PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit title, and also secured qualification for next years British Open. Parry finished ahead of runner-up and compatriot Nick OHern, with Lee Won-joon in third place. Parrys solid three-under-par final round of 69 had followed rounds of 74, a course equaling 64 and 70.
