Golf in Scotland has received a major boost with the news that nearly £1 million of investment is to be ploughed into the sport each year. The Scottish Golf Union and the Scottish Ladies Golfing Association are to channel the funding, directing many of the funds to developing golfers of the future through programmes such as the National Junior Golf Programme clubgolf, which is to receive £500,000 per annum.
Clubgolf is therefore the main benefactor of the new investment, with the scheme already reaching out to over 50,000 children in just its fourth year. Having been created by sportsscotland, clubgolf is run by a number of partners, including the Professional Golfers Association, the Scottish Golf Union, the Scottish Ladies Golfing Association and the Golf Foundation.
