The Dubai Desert Classic golf tournament plays host to some of the biggest names in golf during the annual tournament held in February or March each year. This year however the official programme names a player as the hottest player after Tiger Woods.
The player, Jeev Milkha Singh has been given this honour after winning the Casio World Open and the Golf Nippon Series JT Cup back-to-back last year. He broke into the top-50 of the world’s best players by making it to all four Majors and many of the US PGA tournaments. Another player, Jyoti Randhawa will also be present for the Dubai Desert Classic, he held on to his European PGA Tour card, thus ensuring an Indian presence is guaranteed at all blue riband events.
These players are not the only Indian golfers. In fact other up and coming players include Shiv Kapur, Arjun Atwal and Gaurav Ghei.
The sport of golf allows mixing business deals with leisure and with India’s economy booming there is great potential there.
Greg Norman, former world no 1 and his company, the Great White Shark Enterprises are negotiating with a developer in India . He said, "You will start hearing about it sometime later this year."
Tiger Woods says of Indian golfers when asked, "They have progressed dramatically and it is fantastic for Indian golf."
