Britain’s most successful ever golfer Nick Faldo is to design a course in Delhi, as golf continues to grow in India. The 50 year old’s company, Faldo Design, was founded by Faldo over twenty years ago, and is now one of the leading golf course design companies. It has designed twenty-one courses across Asia already, and is looking to take advantage of the sport’s increasing popularity in India.
The golf course is expected to take three to four years to build at a cost of between £5 million and £7 million, with an emphasis on strategic play.
Managing Director of Faldo Design, Nick Edmund, emphasised the importance of waiting for circumstances to be right in a country before designing a course. Edmund cited the example of Russia, where Faldo design has attempted to build a golf course, though five years after the course development began, it still remains incomplete.
