61-year old Donald Trump has won outline approval to build his £1 billion Aberdeenshire golf resort . Local councillors debated Trumps application at a local schools gym, eventually voting by seven to four in favour of the Trump International Links development.
As well as two championship standard golf courses, the resort will include 36 golf villas as well as 950 holiday homes and a 450-bedroom five star hotel . The development, according to Trump, will be of great benefit to both the local, and Scottish, economy.
However, Trump has had to face numerous obstacles in his bid to build the golf resort. A local fisherman had objected to the proposals, which are set to be built on his 23 acres of land, whilst opponents are insistent on continuing their fight, claiming they will take their case to a public enquiry.
