Seve Ballesteros is to captain the European team in next years Royal Trophy for the third consecutive year, it has been confirmed. The five-times major winner will again adopt a non-playing role as he and his eight-man team travel to the Amata Springs Country Club in Chonburi, Bangkok, to take on Asia. The event takes place on January 11th-13th with foursomes taking place on the Friday, fourballs on the Saturday and singles on the Sunday.
50-year old Ballesteros captained his team to victory last year, as they retained the title with a convincing 12 ½ - 3 ½ victory a far more emphatic result than the 9-7 victory the previous year. Last years team was a combination of the Brits and the Swedes, consisting of Lee Westwood (ENG), Darren Clarke (NIR), Paul McGinley (NIR), Johan Edfors (SWE), Henrik Stenson (SWE), Robert Karlsson (SWE), Anthony Wall (ENG) and Niclas Fasth (SWE). Ballesteros will begin selecting his team soon for the tournament just 3 months away.
