Having sensationally declared at the British Open in July that he knows of two golfers using performance-enhancing drugs, Gary Player has continued to insist that he will not name the golfers in question.
No stranger to controversy, Player has also recently claimed that a total of nine doctors advised him to take human growth hormones to gain strength, though he added that he has always refused.
At Carnoustie in July, Player claimed that two professionals had told him that they had used human growth hormone.
His comments evoked an angry response from several of the worlds top golfers. Compatriot Ernie Els dismissed Players claims, whilst Retief Goosen lambasted Players half comments, saying he should either name names or keep quiet. However, the PGA were quick to follow Players comments with the announcement that drug testing would begin in 2008.
