A new Paul Lawrie designed golf course has been granted outline planning permission by Aberdeenshire Council. Hotels and houses will be built alongside the golf course, which is set to be situated on the site of the former Blairs Seminary in Aberdeenshire. The significant employment, economic and tourism benefits that would accompany the new development were cited as the reasons for the proposals being accepted.
Several listed buildings must be preserved despite the construction of the new development, which could cause difficulties for the Muir Group - the company responsible for the course. The £115 million development still needs approval from the Scottish Government, and could yet take several years to complete.
