Members of the Loch Lomond Golf Club are attempting to raise the necessary funds to buy the exclusive golf resort . They estimate £100 million needs to be raised to acquire the golf club, and intend to turn Loch Lomond into a private members club. The club has reportedly been the subject of eight or nine bids from Middle Eastern, European, and American consortiums. An unofficial executive committee has been formed representing the 800 or so members of the club.
Rather than asking each member for the £125,000 required to raise the £100 million, the members buy out attempt will be equity based, with members asked to buy as many shares as they can afford. One member, Mr Lewandowski, said, The main thing the members are concerned about is maintaining the club at the same standards and ideals. Over the years, Loch Lomond has built up a mystique. People think that it is a stuck-up, snobby place, but when I bring friends here they cannot believe how informal and friendly it is. I've also played at Augusta six or seven times and while the golf course there is magnificent, the place isn't a patch on Loch Lomond .
