Asian Tour organisers and Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) organisers have announced there is to be a fourth Asian Tour event in India this year. The SAIL Open event is to be hosted at Jaypee Greens, Noida and will offer a total prize fund of $400,000. The event will run from February 20th-23rd at the north Indian golf course. Some of Indias best players have announced their participation in the event, including Arjun Atwal, Jyoti Randhawa and Jeev Milkha Singh.
The event sees India host four Asian Tour tournaments a season, second only to China who are to host five events on the 2008 Asian Tour schedule. It is the latest recognition of the growth in the Indian golf industry, with next months Johnnie Walker Classic and Indian Masters both high profile events, each of which offers $2.5 million in prize money .
