Colin Montgomerie has launched an attack on the state of Scottish golf, claiming there is a lack of young talent coming through. The World Number 54 spoke last Wednesday at the DLF Golf and Country Club nearby Delhi, voicing concerns at the lack of Scottish representation in the bigger tournaments.
The 44 year old has been a mainstay in the European Ryder Cup team for the last eight tournaments, but has never won a major championship. However, he has been the leading figure in Scottish golf for some time, and with Montgomerie slipping down the world rankings, it may be some time before a Scot is competing for golfs top prizes.
Montgomerie revealed he has high hopes for 26 year old Marc Warren, with whom he recently won the World Cup in China, but suggested Warren is a fairly isolated figure in terms of young promising Scottish golfers.
