Donald Trump has announced plans to build a golf complex in Puerto Rico at a cost of over £400 million. The proposals have earmarked a 1,000 acre site formerly used by the Coco Beach Golf and Country Club for development, situated on the islands northern coast. The golf complex will appeal only to the very wealthy, with starting prices for the holiday homes standing at £950,000, whilst each home will have access to limousine, private jet and yachting services. Developers hope the 36 hole golf course will help attract potential buyers, whose presence would also benefit the Puerto Rican economy.
Mr Trump has already attempted to build a similar golf complex in Scotland, and is currently awaiting a decision on whether he has the go ahead to build the golf complex on the Menie Estate in Aberdeenshire . There have been a series of problems encountered by Mr Trump already, including a rejection from the council, environmental opposition, locals refusal to sell land as well as a series of smaller hitches.
