Abu Dhabi Golf Club has made significant improvements to its course and facilities ahead of this months Abu Dhabi Golf Championship. The lucrative event takes place on 17th-20th January, with the likes of Padraig Harrington, Luke Donald and Ian Poulter all set to participate, as well as defending champion Paul Casey . However, spectators of this years event are likely to notice an abundance of changes.
Perhaps the most notable difference will be the length of the course. Course alterations have resulted in the par 72 course being extended to 7,500 yards the longest it has been at any point in the events three year history. Notable changes to the course include the redesigned 16th hole, with the introduction of bunkers to the hole, in addition to the existing water hazards, designed to provide a sterner test for some of the worlds leading golfers .
It isnt just the course that has been refurbished, however, as many of the clubs off field facilities have been improved. Most obviously, the club has a new arrival area, whilst the dining area has also been developed.
