Jamaica has revealed figures showing that golf tourism brought over £100 million into their economy in 2006. Given the minimal level of golf advertising or promotion conducted within Jamaica, those figures are highly impressive. Jamaica intends to increase their promotion of the sport as they look to capitalise on the potential that exists. Projections suggest that with some advertising the next five years could see golfs value to the Jamaican economy double. With the annual value of travel and leisure estimated at £2.3 trillion a year, those forecasts are achievable.
There are proposals to add several new world-class golf courses to those already in Jamaica. With easy accessibility and the ideal climate, Jamaica could become the favoured location of many golfers and businessmen in years to come.
