With the beginning of 2008 upon us, Sand Creek Station golf course can look back at its first year and a half in operation as a huge success. The 7200 yard long course was designed by Jeff Brauer and since its opening has attracted a volume of plaudits from many leading golf publications .
Situated in Newton, Kansas, the course boasts the longest par five hole in the state with the 648 yard ‘The Beast’ hole. The par 72 course has been recognised as one of the best newcomers in recent times, with GOLF Magazine placing the award as a ‘Top Ten New Course You Can Play’ for 2006, whilst this month’s issue of Golf Digest offered similar accolades for the course.
The course hosted its first major professional event this summer, as the Newton Community Foundation Pro-Am was held at the course on July 31st as part of the PGA Nationwide Tours Wichita Open .
