Tiger Woods could miss the Open Championship as he continues to struggle with a knee injury. The thirty two year old, who played through the pain to win the US Open, had been out for two months previously as he recovered from arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. With the Open Championship just a month away, Woods is now a major doubt for the tournament.
The 14 time major winner confirmed his intention to take a short break as he looks to rest his knee. That absence means he looks certain to miss the Buick Open in Michigan from June 26th-29th, whilst he may even miss the AT&T Congressional, despite the fact he is the host for the event.
That lack of time on the course would leave Woods, who is just four majors short of Jack Nicklaus' record of 18 wins, precariously placed going into the Open Championship, which begins on July 17th. If Woods plays, not only will there be question marks over his knee and physical fitness, but also over his sharpness having not played for a month.
