The Asian Tour has rejected the possibility of a partnership with the PGA of Australia following plans emerged for an Asia-Pacific golf super tour . Australia, China, Japan and South Korea had endorsed the OneAsia proposals, though chief executive of the Asia Tour Kyi Hla Han said that the plans had been rejected as they werent in the regions best interests. Kyi Hla cited the decline of the Australian PGA as the motive for the plans for a new tour.
The OneAsia tour would have consisted of a 35 stop tour designed to rival the US and European tours. It had been said that the tour would start in January, and it may still go ahead, albeit without the input of the Asian Tour. There will be a minimum purse of 1.5 million dollars for each event on the tour, though tour organisers hope this amount will be significantly higher for some events.
