Tiger Woods’ incredible run of victories has finally come to an end as Geoff Ogilvy beat him to the CA Championship . Despite a nervy last round of 1 under par, Ogilvy finished on 17 under for the tournament, a shot ahead of his closest rivals Jim Furyk, Retief Goosen and Vijay Singh. Woods was a further shot behind on 15 under.
It is the first time since the start of September that Woods hasn’t won a competition he has participated in. Having started the final day of this competition five shots behind, Woods’ customary charge was invigorated at the twelfth, and with Ogilvy struggling on the thirteenth, it seemed there could be a familiar tale unraveling. However, a fantastic chip from Ogilvy saved par, and restored a sense of calm as Woods continued to make birdies.
